~ Boat Yard Blues

It's been exactly one year since my last post on this here blog.

In the past year we've had lots happen. We moved from Marsh Harbour, Abaco to Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Bahamas. We had a baby. We moved our baby to the Bahamas.

Its been a busy year to say the least, and unfortunately i've not been home to work on our beloved Lindita AT ALL this year.

So here is some stuff from last summer/fall and our time in the boat yard.

Last May I breezed through town just long enough to jump on board, untie the lines and motor Lindita 20 miles from her comfy slip in Bluewater Bay Marina to Fisherman's Boatyard in Freeport, FL. to haul out for summer storage on dry land. With baby Aiden on the way, due to be delivered in a couple weeks in Colorado, not knowing where we'd be during the storm season, I felt it was a wise move to the yard. Plus there were projects needing to be done on her underside for quite some time now.

Foggy morning departure from A-57

As much as I loved being in the safe and secure natural harbor of Ward Cove in Rocky Bayou and Bluewater Bay Marina, it was time to move.

Luckily it was a calm day which allowed me to remove sails and flake neatly on deck to stow below before I arrived at the boatyard. Since I was planning to make a mad dash to Colorado the following day, time was of the essence.

Lindita getting a power wash on her underbody before being blocked up for the season.

It would be awhile before I'd be back to show her any attention.

Colorado was AMAZING! I grew a beard, had a baby, fell in love, went back to work, before finally making it back to check on our lovely lady Lindita.

Father's Day with my 4 day old son in Colorado.

After a couple amazing weeks as a new father, it was time to get back to work. A few flights and I was back in Abaco for another month with Annie Lee.  A visit from the Sullivan family, a delivery back to Stuart FL with Milton, and I was heading back to Freeport to check on the ol girl.

After a day of rubbing and scrubbing, I'd leave her alone again and return to Colorado joining back with Alicia and baby Aiden.

Colorado is a wonderful place to spend the dog days of summer. As anyone who is from Florida knows, August can be brutally hot. At this point, I was happy to leave her alone in the Florida heat.

But time starts flying by, and I'm constantly reminding myself of how many unfinished projects are left. And now that our baby Aiden is here, its time to get cracking again on boat projects.

So after a long cross country trip, driving back home from Colorado to Florida, it was September. It was still hot. And I still had lots of work to do!
